New Student - Advising Checklist
Your graduate advisor will work with you throughout your coursework at CMU. The
following checklist will help you get started working with an advisor.
By now you should have:
Submitted an application for admission
Requested transcripts from all previous universities attended
Identified the program center/location where you will complete your
course work
Selected the degree and concentration you wish to pursue
A Graduate Advisor will work with you to:
Request a Program Plan
Discuss and verify competency requirements (MSA students only)
Select courses/create tentative schedule to complete course work
Register for classes
Transfer credit
Apply for Prior Learning credit
Request Program Plan amendments
Resolve other academic issues as needed
