Continuing Education Unit / State Board CEU
Requirements & Regulations
- Program providers who wish to offer the CEU or SB-CEU will need to complete the
appropriate application and submit it to CMU. The application will be reviewed
for CEU approval. The sponsor will be notified as to whether or not the CEU is
approved.
- The Michigan Department of Education requires that State Board Continuing
Education Units (SB-CEU) are approved 30 days prior to the start of the
program offering. This does not include the time CMU needs to review and submit
the application. Applications must be submitted to CMU 40-50 days prior
to the start of the program offering.
- The CEU and SB-CEU is based on contact hour attendance and is on an all or
nothing basis.
- Participants need to sign-in and sign-out accordingly.
- Program providers will be responsible to verify participant attendance.
Providers will need to develop a sign-in/sign-out system for registrants. The
sign-in/sign-out sheet(s) will be used to verify who met the contact hour
requirements and is eligible to earn the CEU.
- Late arrivals or early departures forfeit the opportunity to earn the CEU.
- Failure to sign-in or sign-out will result in forfeiture of the CEU.
- Registrants must attend the entire program to earn the CEU.
- Deviation from the approved agenda could result in the loss of the CEU for
registrants.
- A $25 registration fee applies to CEU and SB-CEU participants.
